There is no name to be inscribed
in ink or stone
for an almost forever
It’s a loss which circulates in the blood
from time to time
but more often than not
but more often than not
Can be felt down to the marrow of the bones
at unexpected moments
each step like walking on shards of sea glass
each step like walking on shards of sea glass
The almost promise
The almost happy ever after
The almost perfect sky
The almost perfect sky
The almost absence from grief

Interesting last line. One who skims the poem might read is as almost absence of grief rather than almost absence from grief. It pulls the "almosts" together into a state of almost consciousness. Excellent, deeply heart-felt poetry, Michelle.
ReplyDeleteThanks friend. “From” was purposely chosen. Hugs.
DeleteMore than almost intriguing. I especially like the final line.
